When people say, “You live in Nova Scotia?” they often follow up with, “You are probably a kayaker then!”
When you are visiting the East Coast people will often advise you: “You need to go kayaking when you are there!” They are not wrong! Nova Scotia offers up some of the most diverse and exciting paddling in Canada.
Here are three places, all within the Halifax areas, you need paddle when in Nova Scotia
Day 1 - Kayaking with Kattuk Expeditions, Fisherman’s cove
9:00am - 9:30am - Only a 30 min drive or a ferry ride and a quick bus from the Halifax side to a little quaint community in Fisherman’s cove.

10:00am - 3:00pm - Begin your "McNab’s Island Explorer Tour!" This is by far the best way to experience the beauty of the McNab's Island coastline. This guided adventure begins in the protected Fisherman's Cove that many call "the Peggy's Cove of the city" because of its maritime beauty.
After instruction and proper fitting of kayak, paddle, and PFD; your guide will lead you along the shoreline of Lawlor's and McNab's Islands stopping in lagoons and beaches with an explanation of the area's history, flora and fauna. You'll take a break on a beautiful sandy beach for a healthy and delicious lunch.

Day 2 - Full Day kayak tour with East Coast Outfitters, Lower Prospect
9:00am - 9:30am - Head out of the city for a beautiful, scenic drive down the Prospect Road to ECO!
9:30am - Arrive at ECO and meet your guide, Adam!
10am - 4:00pm - Your tour will leave from our wharf and sheltered cove on the Lower Prospect peninsula, and explore incredible bays, inlets, islands and shorelines such as Cub Basin, Rogues Roost, Betty’s Island, head over to Prospect Village or the Terence Bay Wilderness Protected Area.
You’ll stop for a healthy lunch at one of the many pristine islands in the area, and have a chance to stretch your legs, walk around, and relax on the shore. This area is renowned for its spectacular and pristine waters - perfect for paddling.
We are fortunate to be located in an area which offers a myriad of pristine islands, beaches, sheltered inlets and incredible rock formations. The wildlife is amazing— there a frequent sightings of seals, porpoises, whales, eagles, and even a schools of breaching tuna!

Day 3 - Half-Day tour with Coastal Adventures, Eastern Shore
7:45am - 9:00am - Head out of Halifax for a scenic coast drive of the Eastern shore
9:00am - Meet you guides, Scott and Gayle!
9:30am - 1:00pm- Coastal Adventures will introduce you to the untapped wilderness of the 100 Wild Islands off the Atlantic Coast of Nova Scotia. During these half day sea kayak trips our friendly and experienced guides will help you to discover the unique biology, geology and human history of this pristine wilderness far from the summer bustle.
From our base in Tangier, along the province's rugged Eastern Shore, we will instruct you in choosing the right type of kayak for you. Several different models, both singles and doubles, will be available. Instruction will be given in the basic paddling strokes and the fundamentals of a safe and enjoyable sea kayaking trip.
During our journey we will explore the sheltered offshore inlets and islands, and a fascinating world where the land meets the sea.
