Overlooking Halifax Harbour, Point Pleasant Park features 39 kilometres of winding trails through wooded paths. Spot squirrels and chickadees as you explore this historic park.
Things to See and Do
Start at the Tower Road entrance at the upper point of the park, or at the lower lot on Marginal Road, which brings you next to the shipping terminal and the waterfront.
The waterfront features an open area complete with beaches and historic sites. It’s a great spot to enjoy some seaside air and wind down after a day in Downtown Halifax.
Throughout the park, various crisscrossing gravel paths take you through the woods. As you move towards Tower Road, the trails become more inclined. Take a quick beach break at Black Rock Beach, or walk along the west side of the park, where you’ll pass rocks and ocean views.
You can explore at your own pace, whether it’s a stroll or a run. The park is fantastic for dog walking; just be cautious in areas where dogs must be kept on a leash.
Discover the park’s history through sites such as the Prince of Wales Martello Tower, the Chain Rock Battery, the Cambridge Battery (a great spot to watch a sunset), Fort Ogilvie, the Point Pleasant Battery, and the Northwest Arm Battery.
