Our Event Calendar is designed to showcase events that inspire travel to the Halifax region and enhance the visitor experience. Our primary audience is travellers planning a visit and visitors already in the destination seeking memorable experiences that reflect the best of Halifax.
Our goal is to promote events that generate tourism, support the local visitor economy, and highlight the unique experiences that make our region an exciting place to visit year-round.
Event Eligibility Guidelines
To be considered for inclusion on the Discover Halifax Event Calendar, events should:
- Take place within the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM).
- Be open to the general public.
- Have a visitor appeal, meaning the event offers an experience that is likely to attract or interest people from beyond the immediate local catchment.
- Offer a leisure, cultural, sporting, culinary, music, entertainment, or community experience that is relevant to visitors.
Image Guidelines
- Upload a high-quality photo that best represents the event.
- Square images (1:1 aspect ratio) are preferred for the best display.
- Use clear, high-resolution images without excessive text, logos, or borders.
- Ensure you have permission to use the image you submit.
- Images must not contain offensive, discriminatory, explicit, or otherwise inappropriate content.
Events That May Not Be Accepted
- Private or invitation-only events.
- Online-only events.
- Meetings, conferences, and networking events.
- Events whose audience is limited primarily to an existing group, organization, or membership.
- Sales, promotions, or events intended primarily to advertise a business or product.
If you are a Discover Halifax member, you can submit your deal in the iDSS Members Extranet.
- Regularly recurring classes, workshops, or fitness sessions with limited visitor appeal.
- Political events, demonstrations, rallies, or religious services.
- Events whose primary or exclusive purpose is fundraising.
Content that promotes or encourages discrimination, harassment, or hate based on race, ethnicity, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, marital status, or any other protected characteristic will not be accepted for publication.
All event submissions are reviewed by the Discover Halifax team to ensure they meet the calendar's guidelines and align with our tourism objectives. Discover Halifax reserves the right to edit submitted event titles, descriptions, categories, and images, and to decline or remove event listings that do not align with our calendar guidelines and destination marketing purpose.

Event Updates
Event organizers are responsible for ensuring their listings remain accurate and up to date. If event details change, including dates, times, location, or cancellation status, organizers should notify cortiz@discoverhalifaxns.com as soon as possible.
