The 2024 JUNO Awards will be hosted in Halifax between March 21-24. In addition to The JUNO Awards Broadcast on Sunday, March 24 at the Scotiabank Centre, there will be many other events for the general public to attend in the leadup to and during JUNO Week.
The Host Committee aims to showcase Atlantic Canada as a vibrant hub of musical talent, to create opportunities and jobs for Atlantic Canadian artists, production crews, and music industry professionals, and to leave a lasting music and cultural legacy in our region.

Halifax JUNO Week Events
Join us in making a greener music scene! We are thrilled to announce our sustainable transportation initiatives for JUNO Week.
1. Hop on the FREE JUNO EXPRESS! It’s an HRM transit bus (1360 or 1400) with signage indicating that it’s free – use during these designated hours:
Friday: 5:30pm to 12am
Saturday: 12pm to 12am
Sunday: 12pm to 12am
2. Take advantage of our Park and Ride Shuttles at the Sackville and Portland Hills terminals for the JUNOS:
Saturday (both locations): 3pm to 12am (last trip leaving downtown at midnight)
Sunday (both locations): 3pm to 12am (last trip leaving downtown at midnight)
3. Sail into sustainability with our extended Alderney Ferry Service for the JUNOS weekend (Friday, March 22 to Sunday, March 24)

NEW: JUNO BLOCK PARTY PRESENTED BY FACTOR
For three electrifying nights, the first-ever JUNO Block Party Presented by FACTOR will feature a diverse range of Canadian talent and emerging artists who will command the spotlight and deliver unforgettable performances. Fans will experience a concert-style showcase featuring some of their favourite musicians and JUNO-nominated artists.

The night kicks off with a tribute to Mi’kmaq culture featuring City Natives followed by PEI’s Joce Reyome, North Preston’s own Reeny, and closing with International Ambassador for DJ Culture, Skratch Bastid.

The ocean that surrounds Nova Scotia, is an orchestra unto itself. Older than time, the music it makes, as it ebbs and flows, is limitless in the emotions it can inspire. In keeping with that, our artists are never still, always putting our unique stamp on emerging genres. The roar of rock and roll, buoyant pop melodies, the deep grooves of hip-hop, pulsating beats of electronic, the natural sway of country, folk, and Mi’kmaw music. Many, fuse these divergent musical currents—creating entirely new genres. New sounds. New stories. Fresh points of view.
And just as the tides will never stop, neither will we. The ocean waves shaping the sound waves we send out with pride—telling the world who we are.
The JUNOS are almost here, and you’re invited! There are a lot of events taking place during JUNO Week, including free events. See below for more details about each event.
Music Legacy Mentorship Program

Program goals:

- Focus on emerging industry professionals in the music industry to grow capacity in the Atlantic region.
- Allow for those interested or already working in the music industry to find a mentor who can provide a brief virtual mentorship and in-person meetings during JUNO Week in Halifax.
- Where possible, work to complement existing mentorship programs in the region.
- Prioritize applications from equity-deserving groups to increase representation throughout the Atlantic music industry.
Who can apply:
-
- Residents of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
- *a resident is defined as a person who has lived in one of the Atlantic provinces listed above for no less than one year by March 1, 2023, or a person who was born in one of the Atlantic provinces listed above and pays taxes in that same province.
- Those working, or wanting to work, in non-performing roles in the music industry (e.g. booking, stage support, management, live tech, publicity, etc.)
- Those not currently enrolled in a music education program.
- Residents of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

- Submit a brief letter or video of interest to the program, providing details of goals and desired outcomes of the mentorship program.
- Provide a CV of past and current relevant work experience in the music industry.
- Provide at least two references from someone who can speak to the applicant’s appropriateness for this program.
- Provide a suggested list of mentors. (This is for reference purposes only and specific mentors cannot be guaranteed.)
How applicants will be reviewed:

- Current activity – either volunteer or paid – in the applicant’s chosen music industry role will be strongly considered
- Review of goals and desired role, in relation to potential mentors
- Strength of references
- Review by 2024 Halifax JUNO Host Committee’s Music Legacy Subcommittee
How it will work:

- Mentors will be assigned to successful applicants (mentees), according to the needs/interests stated in the application.
- Mentees and mentors will be provided a budget to support time/travel to participate in the program, to a maximum of 30 hours, including 10 hours in-person during JUNO Week, plus attendance to the dress rehearsal of The JUNO Awards.
- Mentors and mentees will be provided with suggested ways to engage, but how and when they manage their time together is largely up to them.

Wavemakers Tour - Halifax lineup announced
October 5, 2023 (HALIFAX) – Today, the 2024 Halifax JUNO Host Committee announced the lineup for the Wakemakers Tour stop in Halifax on October 21. The show will feature performances by Atay & JAX, Kayo, Maggie Andrew, and Moira & Claire. The show will also feature host and special guest performer, JUNO Award winner, Rose Cousins.
The Wavemakers Tour is led by the JUNO Host Committee as an opportunity to give emerging local artists exposure and build a sense of community pride and excitement in the lead-up to JUNO Week 2024 in Halifax. Artists were selected following an application process that drew more than 200 submissions from across the East Coast.
“The overwhelming response to the Wakemakers Tour highlights the depth of musical talent in Atlantic Canada,” said Allegra Swanson, Chair of the 2024 Halifax JUNO Host Committee. “We hope to identify the next generation of JUNO Award winners while also giving some of our region’s most talented emerging artists the opportunity to shine.”
The Wakemakers Tour will continue across the region with stops in Charlottetown (Oct 26), Fredericton (Nov 16), Sydney (Nov 22), and St. John’s (Nov 30) with the lineup of performances to be announced shortly. At each stop, one artist will be selected as the Wavemakers ambassador to win a trip to the JUNO Awards, an opportunity to perform during JUNOfest, and more. Winners will be determined through a live vote by fans and an industry jury panel at the end of each show.
Tickets to the Halifax show at the Light House Arts Centre are FREE and can be reserved here. Doors open at 6:30pm, performances start at 7:30pm. The 2024 JUNO Awards and JUNO Week will be hosted in Halifax from March 20-24, culminating in The JUNO Awards Broadcast at Scotiabank Centre on March 24.
