Kjipuktuk, as it is called by the Mi’kmaw Nation, will host competitions in 16 sports over seven days and within 21 venues across Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Dartmouth, and Millbrook First Nation, Nova Scotia. NAIG 2023 will bring together more than 5000 athletes, coaches and team staff from 756 Indigenous Nations celebrating, sharing and reconnecting through sport and culture with the help of 3000 volunteers.

The 2023 North American Indigenous Games is the largest multi-sport and cultural event to be hosted in Atlantic Canada. There are 16 different sports with 3 traditional Indigenous sports including Canoe/Kayak, Lacrosse, and Archery. The three traditional sports will have a special opening ceremony to begin each event.

Land acknowledgement
The 2023 North American Indigenous Games will take place on Mi’kmaw territory, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people. The people of the Mi’kmaw Nation have lived on this territory for millennia, and we acknowledge them as the past, present and future caretakers of this land.
