What to See and Do

Start in the Education Centre, where you’ll meet a variety of resident animals, including a chinchilla, squirrels, birds, turtles and tortoises, chipmunks, snakes, and more. You’ll see a mix of native wildlife, invasive species, and non-releasable animals that help support education and conservation efforts. 

Next, stop by Café Catio, where you can enjoy a coffee or snack while watching Jessie the Bobcat, one of Hope for Wildlife’s most recognizable permanent residents. 

Explore the outdoor enclosures on your own, or join a guided tour on Saturdays. Along the way, you’ll see bald eagles, raccoons, skunks, owls, foxes, and more. You’ll also see the Hope for Wildlife Medicine Wheel, featuring plants that are native to Nova Scotia or closely related to local species.

• Admission is free, and no pre-booking is required. Donations are appreciated and help support Hope for Wildlife’s rescue, rehabilitation, and education programs. 

Experiences and programs

• Guided tours and veterinary hospital tours are available on Saturdays, offering visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the organization’s wildlife care and rehabilitation work. 

What to bring 

• Weather-appropriate layers, sunscreen, or rain gear, depending on the forecast.  
• Shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. 

What ages can attend?

• Visitors of all ages are welcome. The site offers an engaging experience for families, wildlife enthusiasts, and anyone interested in learning more about Nova Scotia’s wildlife.

After your visit, head down the road to Rose & Rooster for a coffee or lunch. Grab a seat on the back deck and enjoy the ocean views.
