Trackside Social, a sun-drenched beer garden with morning coffee and pastries, has opened in Bedford, while Beleza Ceramics, a brand-new pottery studio, is officially open in Downtown Halifax. Slow Mornings, a new North End café and pantry, is opening below the Halifax Backpackers Hostel, and Welcome Espresso has opened its doors, sharing a space with Blue Collar Barbershop – no haircut required. And while Casa di Stefano, Steve O’Reno’s, and Espresso 46, and Tsukimi Food Co. aren’t new to Halifax, each have claimed a new home across the region.

10. Crack into 90 years of tradition at the Shore Club
Nestled on Hubbards Beach along Nova Scotia’s South Shore, the Shore Club has been serving up a taste of summer since 1936 – this year marking its 90th lobster supper season. What began as a beachside tradition moved indoors in 1946 with the construction of the club itself, and the building has been slinging fresh Nova Scotia lobster and hosting live music ever since, earning its reputation as “Nova Scotia’s Last Great Dance Hall.”
The lobster supper experience is the heart of it all: your entrée includes a choice between a 1lb or 1.5lb lobster, a pound of fresh steamed mussels, access to an all-you-can-eat salad bar, and a dessert of your choice. But it’s not just about the food. Every summer Saturday night since 1946, the Shore Club has turned its dining hall into a dance floor with live music. This August alone, the lineup includes Lennie Gallant, Skratch Bastid, Ria Mae, Matt Mays with Joel Plaskett Emergency and Terra Lightfoot, and Arkells, to name a few.
