March in Halifax is all about gathering – around tables, in arenas, on dance floors, and under open skies. It’s a month that celebrates bold women, big games, shared traditions, and the flavours that bring people together, from noodle bowls to lobster feasts and maple taffy. Whether you’re chasing comfort food, crowd energy, or a quiet moment under the equinox sky, this month offers plenty of ways to connect, celebrate, and try something new. Here are 10 ways to make the most of March in Halifax.

1. Celebrate 50 years of The 5 Fishermen with a lobster-filled feast

The 5 Fishermen is marking 50 years in Halifax the best way it knows how – with lobster, and lots of it. For the whole month of March, indulge in Lobster Fest menu with features like rich lobster bisque, house-made lobster tacos, lobster carbonara, classic lobster thermidor, and even a Fishermen’s Lobster Caesar.

Set inside a historic downtown building with a past that dates back to 1817, this iconic restaurant has worn many hats over the centuries, from schoolhouse to art school to funeral home, and even played a role in some of Halifax’s most pivotal moments. Rumour has it, a few stories still linger within its walls.

Come for the lobster, stay for the atmosphere, and raise a glass to five decades of one of Halifax’s most storied dining rooms.
