Compass Distillers is Halifax's only grain to glass distillery. Compass captures the Nova Scotian experience in a bottle by harvesting local grain & unique wild plants to make award-winning, handcrafted spirits. In just over 3 years Compass Distillers has been awarded 73 medals including Best In Class Contemporary Gin 2021 (Canadian Artisan Spirits Competitions), Best Contemporary Gin in Canada 2020 (World Gin Awards), Best Classic Gin in Canada 2020 (World Gin Awards), Double Gold (Denver International Spirits Competition) Double Gold (Global Spirits Competition), Double Gold (New York World Wine & Spirits Competition). Compass Distillers is located in the trendy North End of Halifax with a retail space, cocktail bar, seasonal patio and distillery.

Land Acknowledgement

Halifax is in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people. The people of the Mi’kmaw Nation have lived on this territory for millennia, and we acknowledge them as the past, present and future caretakers of this land.  Historically, a land acknowledgment is a traditional practice shared amongst Indigenous groups to recognize the Indigenous land and territory they are visiting. Today a land acknowledgement remains a way to express one’s gratitude to the Indigenous people for being stewards of the land that we live and work on.
