Off the Grid Eastern Shore Getaway Itinerary

Take a break from the day-to-day routine and unplug with an off-the-grid afternoon on Halifax's untouched Eastern Shore.

The Plan:

  • Pick up your picnic in Musquodoboit Harbour
  • Hike Taylor Head Provincial Park
  • Relax and picnic on the beach
  • Stop for a post-hike beer before heading home

Pick up your picnic

As you drive along the Eastern Shore, stop in at Uprooted Market & Cafe in Musquodoboit Harbour to pick up some freshly made sandwiches and snacks to enjoy on your hike.

Hike Taylor Head Provincial Park

Covering 16 km of stunning coastline, Taylor Head Provincial Park offers a system of interconnected trails and scenic look-offs with spectacular coastal views.

Take the Bob Bluff Trail for jaw-dropping views of Mushaboom Harbour and its many islands along the way.

Distance: 3 km
Difficulty: moderate
Time: 1 hour

Picnic on the beach

Stop and relax on one of the sandy beaches of the Psyche Cove beach system.

Hali-Fact: The beach and sand dunes at Psyche Cove were formed by sand deposits from the erosion of glacial till and bedrock.

Stop in for a post-hike pint at Sober Island

Stop for a post-hike pint at Sober Island Brewing Co. in Sheet Harbour, before starting your scenic drive back along the Eastern Shore.

In a hurry to get home? Pick up a growler to go!
