X

There’s something magical about the warmth and depth of flavours only live-fire cooking can bring, especially as the cooler weather sets in. In Halifax, a few restaurants are combining the art of open-flame cooking with local fare to warm your soul.

Tribute

121-1341 Lower Water St, Halifax

At Tribute, dining feels like an invitation to a kitchen gathering where you’re close enough to feel the gentle heat and see the craft of live-fire cooking up close. Tribute brings guests right into the heart of the action with an open kitchen. At centre stage: a hearth that serves as the blazing anchor that fills the space with a deep woody, smoky aroma, creating a sense of warmth and welcome.

Tribute’s menu balances tradition with creativity, offering dishes influenced by global flavours, sourced with seasonal Nova Scotian ingredients, and centered around live-fire techniques. The menu is thoughtful, highlighting around 10 dishes, each crafted carefully by the culinary team.  Specialties include delicate handmade pastas and Bistecca alla Fiorentina, to get an idea of what’s cooking in this fast-paced kitchen. Expect dishes that combine simplicity with deeply layered flavours, made from traditional methods that are not widely practiced today; no corners are cut here. The welcoming vibe doesn’t stop at the atmosphere – Tribute takes dietary restrictions very seriously, and will go above and beyond to deliver a meal suited to your needs. Here, everyone is welcome at the table.
