Step aboard the Tall Ship Silva and sail the harbour and the Northwest Arm, which have shaped this city for centuries. With towering masts overhead, sails catching the breeze, and shoreline views unfolding around you, this classic schooner offers a relaxed, unforgettable way to experience Halifax from its most iconic vantage point.

Things to See and Do

A sailing cruise on the Tall Ship Silva offers a front-row seat to one of the world’s great natural harbours. Over two relaxed hours, you’ll glide past iconic Halifax landmarks and lesser-seen shoreline views, all while enjoying the calm, steady pace of life under sail.

As the Silva leaves the waterfront behind, you’ll pass Historic Properties, Georges Island National Historic Site, and the Halifax boardwalk. The route continues around Point Pleasant Park into the Northwest Arm, a beloved stretch of sheltered water lined with stately homes, wooded shoreline, and quiet coves.

Live local music sets the tone on board, adding to the laid-back, festive atmosphere. Knowledgeable guides point out highlights along the way, sharing stories that bring the harbour’s past and present to life. If weather and conditions allow, guests are invited to help raise the sails. Kids especially love becoming “honorary crew” and receiving a certificate to mark the moment.

With refreshments available from the onboard bar, plenty of space to move around the deck, and endless photo-worthy views, the Silva is the perfect way to relax while discovering something new about Halifax.
