Join the crowd at a Halifax Wanderers match and feel the buzz in the heart of the city. Wanderers Grounds pops with energy, attracting die-hard soccer fans, families, and anyone looking for a lively summer outing.

Game Atmosphere

The Canadian Premier League (CPL) delivers fast-paced men’s soccer, dramatic goals, and plenty of tense moments that keep the crowd into it until the final whistle.

But the matchday atmosphere builds well before kickoff. Wanderers Grounds offers family-friendly activities, live music, fan stores, and food trucks, creating a full experience beyond the game itself. Gates open 90 minutes before kickoff, giving you time to explore, grab a bite, and settle into your seat.

The heart of the atmosphere is The Kitchen, the supporters section. From here, drums pound, chants echo, smoke rises, and flags wave, fuelling the stadium with relentless energy. If you want to get rowdy and experience the passion up close, this is where you’ll want to be. As the players enter, The Kitchen leads energetic introductions, and throughout the game, chants echo across these stands.

Prefer a more relaxed vibe? Seating along the touchlines provides excellent sightlines and a balanced family-friendly environment, while spots behind the net put you close to the action—though the far side of the pitch can be harder to see. Suites and the patio provide a more comfortable, social matchday experience for groups.

Planning Your Visit

Getting there

  • Getting to Wanderers Grounds is straightforward with a bit of planning. If you’re driving, aim to arrive early—street parking and nearby lots fill up quickly on game days. Halifax Transit buses stop within walking distance, and if you’re coming from Dartmouth, the ferry across the harbour drops you about a 20-minute walk from the stadium.

Team merchandise

  • Show your support and wear the team colours: navy blue and aqua.
  • Official gear is available just inside Gate A (between sections 106 and 107), at the Sackville Street shop, and online

Tickets

  • Tickets can be purchased online and scanned from your phone, or printed if you prefer.
  • You may enter through any gate, but the official stadium map will help you find the entrance closest to your seat.

What to bring

  • Prepare for the weather: bring a rain jacket for showers, a sweater for cooler early- and late-season matches, and a hat and sunblock for sunny days.
  • Umbrellas are not permitted.
  • Since many sections are bleacher seating, bring a cushion or blanket for comfort.
  • For easier bathroom access, pick a seat on the end of the bleachers.

Insider Tips

The Grounds are right next to Spring Garden Road, surrounded by some of Halifax’s best dining and nightlife. Many fans grab dinner before the match or continue celebrating afterward.

Matches last about two hours, with two 45-minute halves and a halftime break. Arriving early gives you time to soak up the pre-game atmosphere before kickoff.
