Head to the Scotiabank Centre to experience a Halifax Mooseheads game packed with fast-paced, physical, and skilled Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) action. Whether you’re a die-hard hockey fan, attending your first hockey game, or just looking for a family-friendly night out, the Mooseheads deliver a fun and exciting experience.
Game Atmosphere
As the lights dim, the Moose’s glowing red eyes appear on the wall, smoke pours from its nostrils, and the players skate out to thunderous cheers. Player introductions and the Canadian national anthem build anticipation before puck drop.
Games have a passionate and family-friendly vibe. When the Mooseheads score, the catchy goal song “You Just Can’t Stop the Moose” blasts through the arena. The crowd feeds off big hits that leave the boards rattling, scrums after the whistle, and goals from young players chasing pro dreams.
Between plays, the fan cams keep people smiling, while mini-games and on-ice activities between periods keep kids and adults engaged. Team mascot Hal adds to the fun, pumping up the fans throughout the game.

Insider Tips
Getting to the Scotiabank Centre is easiest if you plan ahead. If you’re driving, arrive early to find easier parking and soak up the pre-game buzz. Public transit options, including city buses, stop nearby, and if you’re coming from Dartmouth, the ferry will drop you just a short walk from the venue. Doors typically open 60 to 90 minutes before game time, and matches last about two-and-a-half hours, with three 20-minute periods and intermissions in between.
Food and drink are easy to find inside, with rink classics available, though many fans grab dinner downtown beforehand.
The crowd is welcoming, and knowledgeable fans are usually happy to explain plays. The Mooseheads’ social channels are also worth checking for team updates, along with their promotional schedule for special and themed nights.
Sitting near the glass is thrilling, as you’ll experience big hits up close, but for the best views of the entire ice surface, being several rows up is ideal.
