Peggy's Cove Area Festival of the Arts

Spanning two weeks in July, the Peggy’s Cove Area Festival of the Arts showcases local artists and their connection to the region. The festival kicks off with an enchanting opening night gala (July 9) at Hubbards Barn. Watch artists paint en plein air over three days (July 11–13) during the Paint Peggy’s Cove event, capturing the essence of this iconic village. The freshly created artwork will be available for purchase, offering a chance to take home a piece of this unforgettable landscape. Free creative activities will also be available for young art enthusiasts.

Embark on a self-guided tour of over 40 artist studios during the three-day Studio Tour (July 18–20) to witness the artistic process firsthand through live demonstrations and captivating displays. Explore quaint communities, coves, and sheltered inlets along Peggy’s Cove Road as you hop between creative spaces, with the unique opportunity to purchase artwork directly from the creators.

Halifax County Exhibition

Experience the charm of a traditional agricultural fair at the Halifax County Exhibition in Middle Musquodoboit. Afterward, indulge in delicious fair treats from local food trucks and enjoy live music in the beer garden. The Eastern Shore Pride Festival is a celebration of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in this picturesque coastal region. Highlights include lively drag shows, a Pride Variety Show, art exhibits, musical performances, and family-friendly activities. Proceeds often support local causes like Rainbow Refugees and community food pantries. With its emphasis on community connection, Eastern Shore Pride offers a unique and heartwarming experience that fosters a sense of belonging.

SeaLight SkyLight Festival

Experience the magic of the Eastern Shore at this year’s bioluminescent-inspired festival, a display of cosmic and celestial wonder. Set against the stunning backdrop of the region’s dark skies, the all-ages event brings together art, music, and science in a unique and sustainable way. 

Enjoy live musical and theatre performances, hands-on workshops, an art showcase, and a candlelit waterfront procession. Stargazing enthusiasts can take in telescopic views of the cosmos while kids engage in interactive activities led by local environmental groups. The event also features entertainment on a pedal-powered stage, seamlessly blending creativity, sustainability, and community spirit.

Nova Scotia Forest Festival

Nestled within the authentic setting of a restored 1940s-era village, the Nova Scotia Forest Festival offers a unique and immersive tribute to Nova Scotia’s forestry heritage. Held annually at Memory Lane Heritage Village in Lake Charlotte, this family-friendly event presents engaging activities highlighting traditional forestry practices, such as axe throwing and horse logging demonstrations. Seaside Christmas brings the vibrant holiday spirit of the Eastern Shore to life, featuring some of the region’s best artists, shops, and restaurants. Sip a peppermint latte while enjoying a leisurely coastal drive between Lawrencetown and Clam Harbour during this three-day weekend event. Highlights include over 40 vendors at the Musquodoboit Harbour Farmers’ Market, offering everything from handmade goods and festive treats to live music and cozy refreshments. Guests can enjoy live holiday tunes, browse unique gift options, and soak in the warmth of the local community atmosphere.
