5 Wonderful Wine Bars in Halifax

The Halifax region is home to some wonderful wine bars, each offering a unique, inviting atmosphere, and an impressive selection of local and international wines.

Read on for our list of the top wine bars on both sides of the Halifax harbour!

1 – Obladee Wine Bar

1600 Barrington Street – Downtown Halifax

This cozy spot on the corner of Barrington and Sackville Streets is the perfect spot to meet some pals, take a date, hear some superb live music, and of course, drink some top notch wine!

The oenophiles at Obladee know their wine and are always happy to recommend a glass from their comprehensive wine list. Keep an eye out for rotating feature wines, and definitely try some of the elegant, shareable food from their seasonal, locally inspired menu.

2 – Little Oak Bar

1475 Lower Water Street – Downtown Halifax

This intimate restaurant on Halifax’s waterfront has arguably one of the best wine cellars around.

Try one of the masterfully selected wines by the glass, ask their expert staff which new bottle to taste, or treat yourself to one of their rarer finds using their Coravin system, which allows you to sample from a bottle without opening it and exposing the bottle’s contents to the air.

3 – The Watch That Ends the Night

15 Kings Wharf Place – Dartmouth

Dartmouth-bound wine lovers now have a new watering hole to haunt, thanks to the newly opened The Watch That Ends the Night in downtown’s King’s Wharf development.

Featuring retro decor and a beautiful view across Halifax Harbour, you’re sure to find a wine to suit your palate from their curated collection of reds, whites, sparkling, sherry, and port.

4 – The Barrington Steakhouse & Oyster Bar

1662 Barrington Street – Downtown Halifax

Twenty-two-page wine menu. Need we say more?

The folks at The Barrington Steakhouse know their wine and know how to pair it beautifully with the local beef and produce featured on their menu. In the mood a full-bodied wine and not a full, hearty meal? No problem! The oyster bar has cozy fireplaces and comfortable seating to sit and enjoy a glass and a snack.

5 – Lot Six Bar & Restaurant

1685 Argyle Street – Downtown Halifax

Not only does Lot Six have a thoughtfully curated wine selection, it boasts one of the more charming spaces in the city!

Head to their rear atrium and surround yourself with a memorable atmosphere while you taste your way through an array of Nova Scotian and international wines.
