Here are 5 ways to get to Peggy's Cove by land, by air, and by sea.
1. When you have access to a vehicle
Peggy’s Cove is about a 50-minute drive from downtown Halifax, and the route is very straightforward. Take Quinpool Road to the Armdale Roundabout and take the third exit for St. Margaret’s Bay Road. At the set of lights, turn left onto Route 333 (fittingly known as The Lighthouse Route) towards Peggy’s Cove.
You'll stay on Route 333 for about half an hour (36 kms) until it turns into Peggy’s Point Road.

Twenty years ago, Peggy’s Cove was the site of a devastating airplane crash, SwissAir Flight 111. To mark the tragic events of September 2, 1998, a memorial was erected overlooking the place where the plane sunk into the sea. It blends beautifully with the rugged landscape and is worth visiting for a moment of serenity and reflection. You’ll see it on the right-hand side of the road on your way into Peggy’s Cove.
2. When you don't have access to a vehicle
It’s not possible to get to Peggy’s Cove by Halifax's public transit system, however, there are plenty of alternative options for those looking to hitch a ride:
2a - Taxi to Peggy’s Cove
A taxi ride to Peggy’s Cove will run you $80–$100 each way, however, Halifax taxi company Casino Taxi offers Peggy’s Cove tours if you’re looking for a flexible way to explore the region. A taxi will drive you there, wait for an hour while you explore, and drive you back to the city for a flat rate of $150. If you want to stay longer, the cost is $26.80 per extra hour.
2b - Rent a car in Halifax and drive to Peggy's Cove
Depending on how long you’d like to stay in Peggy’s Cove, a car rental may be the right fit for you. Halifax is home to all of the major car rental companies such as Enterprise, Hertz, Avis, and Budget, all of which offer day-long rentals starting as low as $100.
3. When you want to make a day of it

Both Bruce’s Tours and Viator offer excellent half and full-day tours to Peggy’s Cove that depart from Halifax’s port, or just down the boardwalk from your ship.
5. When you arrive by plane
Visiting Halifax by plane? We can’t think of a better way to stretch your legs than by scrambling over the rocks at Peggy’s Cove.
Driving from Halifax Stanfield International Airport, take Highway 102 Southbound to Exit 3 and turn left on Highway 213. Follow Highway 213 to the end, and then take Route 333 straight to Peggy’s Cove.
