See a collection of aircraft, artifacts, weapons, and engines, and discover the stories of the planes, the pilots who flew them, and their impact on Atlantic Canadian history.

 

What to See

 

Take the museum’s flight simulator for a guided session with a pilot, where you’ll practice taking off, flying, and landing a Boeing 737 from Halifax Stanfield International Airport or airports around the world. 

 

Explore 25 aircraft spanning military and civilian aviation, including the F-86 Sabre MK V flown by the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Golden Hawks aerobatic team, Second World War bombers, and aircraft that tell the story of aviation in Atlantic Canada and beyond. 

 

See the Grumman TBM Avenger, a torpedo bomber originally built for U.S. Navy aircraft carriers during the Second World War, and learn about its military service, post-war use, crash, and restoration. 

 

View the replica of the Silver Dart, the first powered aircraft flown in Canada, and learn why it played such an important role in the history of aviation in Atlantic Canada. 

 

See more than a dozen aircraft engines, including the OX-5 and the Merlin, which powered the Spitfire and Lancaster, along with a cutaway Wright Cyclone R-3350 radial engine. The museum also displays a collection of military technology including torpedoes, rockets, missiles, bombs, sonobuoys, and more.
