Tuesday, March 29, 2016 – 10:15 – Last fall the Government of Nova Scotia selected Bay Ferries Ltd to operate the ferry service between Portland, Maine and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The service is an important transportation link and provides another option for visitors to arrive in Nova Scotia.
Earlier today the Government of Nova Scotia and Bay Ferries Ltd announced details that a 10-year agreement has been reached. The vessel is a high-speed ferry with a capacity of 282 vehicles and 866 passengers. The service will be Yarmouth-based, leaving Yarmouth daily at 8a.m. and Portland at 2:30p.m. returning to Yarmouth at 9p.m. and is anticipated to run June 15th to September 30th.
Tourism Nova Scotia has been actively working with Bay Ferries Ltd to share marketing information and developing joint marketing initiatives in our target markets. We’ll continue to work with Bay Ferries Ltd and look forward to a successful 2016.
