Day One

A must on any tour to Halifax is a visit to the Halifax Public Gardens. Pass through the stunning cast-iron gates of the main entrance and enjoy a leisurely stroll through a 16-acre Victorian horticultural masterpiece. Considered one of the finest surviving examples of a Victorian Garden in North America, the Halifax Public Gardens officially opened in 1867 and is a National Historic Site.

Discover why Halifax is a foodie’s dream destination on a culinary tour. Halifax prides itself on locally sourced ingredients, fresh seafood and innovative chefs. Choose from a guided walking tour or a chauffeured food tour to experience Halifax’s culinary hot spots. Kick off your evening with a visit to Alexander Keith’s Nova Scotia Brewery – afterwards, take in the local flavour and live music at one of the many historic Halifax pubs.

Day Two

Visit the Dartmouth Common Community Garden this morning. The popular community gathering place is also home to a community oven and orchard, in addition to the garden. The garden is located near Leighton Dillman Park and provides a fantastic view of Halifax Harbour.

Next stop is Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum. The site’s gardens are the perfect combination of interpretive and nostalgic, as well as practical and experimental. Enjoy a walk along the pathway lined with native trees and shrubs that leads to a neighbouring pond and wetland. Enjoy lunch or afternoon Tea in the Museum’s Tea Room whose menu is a blend of old English influences, Nova Scotia favourites, and Cole Harbour kitchens (all created from scratch and using the Farm garden’s own produce wherever possible).

This afternoon, experience a grand country mansion at Uniacke Estate Museum Park. Visitors can savour the natural beauty of the park on one of the seven walking trails featuring elements of the 18th century English landscape Garden design and unspoiled Nova Scotia woodland.

Complete the day with a spectacular meal at one of the city’s many restaurants.
