5 Things To Do in Halifax During the 2019 Memorial Cup (even if you aren’t a hockey fan!)

2019 marks the 101st anniversary of the CHL Memorial Cup Championships, one of the most prestigious and coveted trophies in North American sport. The Memorial Cup has shaped the way junior hockey is played in North America, and it’s happening here in the heart of Halifax this spring!

While this is a HUGE deal for hockey fans, you might be surprised that the Memorial Cup brings something to the table for everyone – from live entertainment to amazing shopping, there won’t be a single dull moment during your 2019 Memorial Cup experience!

1 – Celebrate at Street Fest!

WHEN: May 17-26, 2019
WHERE: Argyle Street, Halifax

While there’s plenty of action on the ice, the REAL party is at the Memorial Cup Street Fest. Check out Argyle Street for a full street closure with live music, including local artists such as Joel Plaskett, Gord Bamford, Ria Mae, AND MORE!

No game tickets? No problem! Each game will be streamed outside for anyone to watch! And the best part about it? It’s all FREE! That’s right, free live music in the heart of Downtown Halifax, for 9 days in a row; it’s hard to get better than that!

2 – Experience the Kubota Fan Zone

WHEN: May 17-26, 2019 (find hours of operation here)
WHERE: Argyle Street, Halifax

You don’t have to be a hockey fan to check out the Memorial Cup Fan Zone! Bring your friends and family to play some interactive games and skate on the artificial ice rink.

With daily hot stove guests and a Hockey Hall of Fame exhibition, hockey and non-hockey fans alike can enjoy the spirit of the game while also having a great time all around with SO MANY activities!

3 – Have a Drink at the Beer Garden

It doesn’t take a hockey fan to be able to get a beer!

Bring on the warm weather with a cold beer at the Memorial Cup Street Fest Ultimate Beer Garden. With so much spirit and energy in the air, you’ll be wishing the Memorial Cup was just a bit longer!
