About This Experience

Dive deep into Halifax’s history with a visit to this harbourfront museum.

Africville Museum tells the story of Africville: a once thriving African Nova Scotian community nestled on the edge of Halifax Harbour. In the 1960’s the area and buildings were unfairly destroyed and residents displaced to free up land for Halifax’s industrial expansion. There is a lot to be learned through photographs, artifacts and anecdotes.

Today, the museum resides on the original Africville grounds in a replica of a church that once stood there.
