Haligonians and regular visitors have long-known that there’s something really special about Halifax, but lately it seems that the rest of the world is really taking notice!
Halifax was recently ranked #4 IN THE WORLD among 10 Destinations on the Rise in TripAdvisor’s 2018 Travelers’ Choice awards. Destinations were selected by measuring increases in positive TripAdvisor traveler reviews, as well as increases in search and booking interest – it’s based on math, you can’t argue with that!
Recognizing that it’s all those positive traveler reviews that have made Halifax a globally-recognized destination, we want to send all that love right back and thank everyone who made this possible!
Now, without further ado, some of the sweetest, most heartwarming TripAdvisor reviews of Halifax:
“From the moment that we walk in the hotel we were greeted by Jessica, the receptionist and the most hospitable, delightful young woman with a personality that proved to be an asset to the Hotel in every respect.
Her warmth and personal attention to our needs made us feel as though we were home! Honestly! Our questions were answered with attention to detail pointing us in the right direction for the best restaurants in town. She was truly interested in why we were visiting Nova Scotia.
The room we stayed in was neat and clean. The breakfast was very good and the staff were pleasant. We will stay here again when we visit Halifax, Thank you again to Jessica!”

“Is it weird to move to an entirely different city based on one restaurant?
We absolutely devoured our meals. Amazing service, atmosphere and delicious food. The striploin was the best steak I’ve ever had in a restaurant and for the love of God, please order the wedge salad.
Will 10000% be back, even if we just fly in for the night to experience this again!”

“Such an incredible surprise! My husband wanted to “just” go an look at the ship…
Well, we ended up going virtually EVERYWHERE on it!!! We were even in the engine room! Any question one had was answered.
I have no idea how long we were on the tour. It was an experience where you lost track of time, because it was so interesting!“

“First of all, I would happily recommend Fred Stillman and Kattuk Expeditions for any adventure you might choose. Fred is the epitome of professionalism and especially the most dedicated guide you could ever find.
I went with Fred and 3 others to Sable Island in August for a trip I’d been dreaming about – forever! It was truly one of the best days – and trips – of my life. It wasn’t just the fact that I was visiting a national treasure – Fred had every little detail down to a science and made the day simply outstanding.
Fred and Kattuk are on my speed dial now so that I don’t miss a thing!“

“We arrived in Halifax by Cruise ship. Within about 30 minutes we arrived by walk at this wonderful and amazing pubic garden in Spring Garden Road.
It is very well kept and features fountains, paths, very well maintained tress and bushes, a beautiful gazebo surrounded with amazing flowers and several benches where one can sit and relax, several statues, a small restaurant which serves coffees, tea, ice cream and snacks at very reasonable prices. a few meters down the restaurant you’ll find the restrooms also. Very near on the same road you’ll find also the Central Library and beautiful St Mary’s Cathedral Basilica.
This is a MUST SEE public garden together with other nearby attractions.“

“Ourselves and six other friends had the best wine tour with Grape Escapes. Each couple selected one winery to attend then Susan organized the tour right down to an absolutely delicious birthday cake at Luckett’s. We also visited Planters Ridge, Gaspereau, and Benjamin Bridge.
Every detail was taken care of and well choreographed. Susan was great to deal with – it is evident that she has a lot of experience. By the end of our tour, our tour guide Randy felt like he was part of our circle of friends.
Randy is knowledgeable, has a great sense of humour and very easy to chat with. He kept us on schedule without us feeling rushed. He also coordinated the presentation of the birthday cake. Excellent experience. All our friends loved the day. We will definitely be doing this again and will request Randy as our guide. Thank you so much to the Grape Escapes team. “

“This is one of my most favourite places in the world. I really like the old Brewery Market as well but the new Seaport Market not only puts me in my happy place when I am there but also during the year when I am far far away from Halifax.
What do I love? Lots of the vendors of course, and lot of products that I can stock up on and use for the rest of the year. The crafts. And the fresh produce that I can, alas, only enjoy while I am in Nova Scotia (well, I have been know to fly to Ontario with apples in my suitcase).
I also love the whole atmosphere, the business but not too busy to chat with strangers or, very often, someone you know and haven’t seen for a while. When I want a quiet moment I grab a coffee from the Laughing Whale and head up to the rooftop garden and wave to the cruise ships. Only about 40 sleeps before I am there again!”

9 – “Amazeballz“ – Good Robot Brewing Company
“We were always here on off times so we were spoiled to have most of the place to ourselves.
This place is so chill that you feel like you’re sitting around your arty nerdy friends place having a beer. Staff is ultra relaxed.”

“My partner and I recently visited The Press Gang with high hopes and had our expectations met and then thoroughly exceeded. The setting was beautiful, the service spectacular, and chef Chris Bolt treated us to a seven course meal (“The Drill”) that we won’t soon forget. Each course was a chef’s choice surprise packed with creativity in both presentation and flavour; choosing a favourite part proved impossible and dinner has never been so much fun! Chef Bolt himself even took the time to serve our main course and talk to us about our experience.
I highly recommend The Press Gang for unparalleled fine dining; from setting to service to chef, the best Halifax has to offer.”
