4 Halifax Bands You HAVE to See Live

header image: Port Cities by Mirror Image Media

If there is one thing Halifax is certainly not short of, it’s music.

Whether you’re hearing it during Tunes at Noon in Parade Square, on a Friday night at The Carleton, or at a sold out show in the Scotiabank Centre, you can always find good music somewhere in this city.

The best thing is, we have so many amazing bands that are based right here in Halifax. These bands (and so many others!) deserve some serious recognition.

Here are just 4 of the MANY bands you HAVE to see live in Halifax:

1 – Hillsburn

Hillsburn’s incredible combination of perfect three-part harmonies, unparalleled songwriting, and the contagious energy of lead-singer Rosanna Burrill, make for powerful visual and sonic performances that draw even wallflowers right to centre-stage.

2 – Port Cities

This band is about to be huge.

A perfect blend of kitchen party energy and cool country vibes, Halifax-based band, Port Cities knows how to show their audience a good time!

The former CBC Searchlight semifinalists released their debut album, Port Cities, and were chosen as iHeartRadio’s Future Star for their new single “Back to the Bottom”.

3 – Roxy and the Underground Soul Sound

This band is tight. Fronted by Roxy Mercier, and featuring some of the best players in the city, you had better bring your dancing shoes—and a sweat rag.

Roxy and TUSS put their own spin on classic 60’s and 70’s funk and soul. The band occasionally delves into funk/soul classics, but play mostly original material.

4 – The Town Heroes

You probably know The Town Heroes for their online antics, but don’t let these good-natured Cape Bretoners fool you—they rock hard, and they’ve got the hardware to prove it.

We’ll leave you by saying that these boys are known for putting on a show – you’ll have to see it for yourself to understand.
