Everything You Need to Know About Halifax's Evergreen Festival

Halifax's second annual outdoor holiday festival is happening from November 26-December 19, 2021 and this year is bigger, better, and more festive than ever. Find out everything you need to know about the 2021 Evergreen Festival - from light display locations to live music schedules, where to park on the Halifax waterfront to hours of operation for the seaside Ferris wheel.

What is Evergreen Festival?

Evergreen Festival is a four-week-long outdoor holiday festival showcasing Nova Scotian culture, food, spirits, art, and music in celebration of the season. Local retailers, restaurants, hotels, attractions, and public spaces throughout the Halifax region are creating magical illuminations, festive entertainment, and special holiday offers for the occasion.

The festival was created as an opportunity for locals and visitors to explore undiscovered corners of the city while safely supporting the community and celebrating the holiday season.



What can you do at the festival?

The festival is comprised of a number of elements throughout the city, including the Evergreen Village on the Halifax waterfront, which includes the Evergreen Market and Evergreen Stage, presented by the team that organizes the annual Halifax Jazz Festival.

Evergreen Village

Evergreen Villageis a collection of festive activities and attractions on the Halifax Waterfront. The Village includes theEvergreen Market,Evergreen Stage, theMental Health Foundation Tree Lot of Kindness, a seasideFerris Wheel, and a kid-friendly Hay Bale Maze!

All elements of the Evergreen Village will be running through the same hours as the Evergreen Market:

Evergreen Market

Shop local on the Halifax waterfront! The Evergreen Market is a collection of 24 cozy wooden chalets with vendors from across the province offering a variety of local food, drink, apparel, and gifts.⁠

Evergreen Stage

Bundle up and get cozy stageside to hear some of your favorite local bands and musicians perform live on the Evergreen Stage.

Pay-what-you-can tickets can be purchased at the door, or book online to reserve a cozy propane fire pod for up to 10 people, or a picnic table pod for groups up to 6.⁠

What COVID-19 safety protocols are in place?

The festival organizers have consulted extensively with Nova Scotia Public Health and Communities, Culture and Heritage to ensure that all public health and safety guidelines and recommendations for safe outdoor gatherings are in place.

Some of the safety protocols include:
- Each pod at the Evergreen Stage is physically distanced from the others.
- Hand sanitizer and extra face masks are available at the festival site.
