The “Touch Tank” is a mixed-reality installation part of this years Halifax Independent Film Festival, and culmination of work undertaken at Centre for Art Tapes over the last year but Artist in Residence, Hailey Guzik. This project reflects upon Nova Scotia’s intertidal ecosystems to explore how sensuous acts of looking, touching, and remembering manifest in western ideations of nature. Navigating similarities between landscape painting and virtual reality, the work is a result of ongoing research on the history of these mediums and their relation to the tourism industry.
