Donna Bourne-Tyson commended for success of the 37th International Association of University Libraries Conference

Thursday, June 16, 2016 – 10:15 – Donna Bourne-Tyson has received a Destination Halifax Ambassador Award for her contributions to the success of the 37th International Association of University Libraries (IATUL) Conference

“The International Board wished to see the conference hosted in Canada as it had only been here once before,” said Jeff Turner, New Business Development Manager, Sales, Destination Halifax. ”The Canadian member of the board knew Donna had an interest in hosting and approached her with the idea. She enthusiastically agreed Halifax would be a great conference locale and with her local team successfully bid for the 2016 conference, competing against Toronto, Vancouver and Victoria.”

The conference took place at Dalhousie University, Cambridge Suites and Lord Nelson Hotel from June 5 to June 9 and attracted 180 delegates. Participants spent time in downtown Halifax, Peggy’s Cove, Mahone Bay, Lunenburg and Annapolis Valley.

The Ambassador Program is an alliance of individuals and organizations who achieve economic growth for the Halifax region through the promotion of Halifax as a premier meetings and conventions destination. The program has been led by Destination Halifax since 2002.
