Donna Maguire was born and educated in Nova Scotia. In her earlier years, she studied under successful Maritime artists John Cook, Ruth Wainwright and Jean Edmonds Hancock. Donna works mainly in oils, painting not only the life and the people of the sea around her but also in portraiture. Her work is in private collections across Canada, the U.S., the British Isles and Europe.
Donna cannot recall a time in her life when she didn’t draw or paint. In the early 1970s, Donna’s painting pursuits were put on hold for some years by the adoption of her two oldest boys and later by the birth of her son. Her time for painting was limited while raising three active boys and working full-time in a business career to assist with their education.
