Antwon & Daphne Christian: The Ultimate Family Weekend in Halifax

Halifax is a fantastic place for families to visit! If you’re looking for a fun-filled afternoon, the Halifax waterfront is the place to be. From indulging in a delicious Beavertail, playing at the playground, exploring the ships, or strolling along the boardwalk, there’s never a dull moment. And if you have a sweet tooth, don’t forget to stop by Sugah! for some delicious treats. Relaxing in a hammock while taking in the sights is always a great way to end the day.

On weekends, we love packing up the car and heading out to the Annapolis Valley for a drive. We always make time for a stop along the way at our favourite coffee shop, Apartment 3 in Lower Sackville.

For a great afternoon in the city, we love taking the kids for a walk in the Halifax Public Gardens or for a picnic on the Halifax Common. On rainy days, our go-to activities include the Discovery Center, Hop! Skip! Jump!, Playdium in Dartmouth Crossing, or a laid-back afternoon at the movies.

After working up an appetite with all that playing, there is never a debate in our family over where to grab a slice of pizza or donair on the way home – it’s Tony’s every time. Located at the corner of Cunard and Robie Streets, Tony’s Famous Donair holds special memories for our family that go back generations. Their menu is truly unmatched.

No matter the time of year, Halifax has so much to offer for families.
